Frequently asked questions
What is positive peace?
Negative peace is the absence of violence. Positive peace is the presence of the attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful, resilient and thriving societies. PPF works on the second: long-term, systemic change rather than only crisis response.
What are the Eight Pillars of Positive Peace?
Well-Functioning Government, Sound Business Environment, Equitable Distribution of Resources, Acceptance of the Rights of Others, Good Relations with Neighbors, Free Flow of Information, High Levels of Human Capital, and Low Levels of Corruption. PPF uses them as one framework to understand challenges, design interventions and measure impact. Explore the pillars.
Is PPF affiliated with any political party or religious group?
No. PPF is fully politically independent. It works with all communities across Lebanon under strict principles of transparency and accountability.
How does PPF work?
Through three interconnected divisions: the Training Hub (Learn), the Policy Lab (Grow) and Field Action (Impact). Training builds skills, research informs policy, and field action puts both into practice.
How can I join or volunteer?
We welcome researchers, policy analysts, youth activists, community leaders and civil society partners. Fill in the application form and tell us how you would like to contribute.
Are the trainings accredited? Who can attend?
The Training Hub delivers accredited workshops in active mediation, interest-based negotiation and non-violent communication. They are designed for youth advocates, community leaders, educators and municipal actors. Register your interest.
Can my municipality or organization request support?
Yes. Field Action works with municipalities and communities on mediation, cross-community projects and local peace committees. Send a request. Requests are treated confidentially.
How is PPF funded, and how are funds managed?
PPF is committed to full financial accountability. Information on funding and reporting is published on our transparency page. To support our work, see Donate.
Where can I read your research?
All policy briefs, field assessments and indicator reports are published in our publications library, filterable by pillar, type and year.
