For decades, peacebuilding efforts in our region have focused mainly on crisis response and negative peace: the absence of active violence or immediate security threats. Lebanon now faces unprecedented socio-economic challenges, institutional fragility and deep community polarization. Piecemeal interventions and short-term humanitarian relief are no longer enough to secure long-term stability.
The Positive Peace Foundation (PPF) was established to change that. We are an independent, action-driven Lebanese civil society organization working to build positive peace: the attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful, resilient and thriving societies.
One framework: the Eight Pillars
Instead of tackling social tension in isolation, PPF works through the Eight Pillars of Positive Peace. They range from well-functioning government and the equitable distribution of resources to the free flow of information and low levels of corruption. Together they give us one lens to understand Lebanon’s structural challenges, design multi-sector interventions and measure real impact.
Three divisions: Learn, Grow, Impact
- PPF Training Hub (Learn) equips youth advocates, local leaders, educators and municipal actors with practical mediation, negotiation and non-violent communication skills.
- PPF Policy Lab (Grow) grounds everything we do in field research, localized policy briefs and district-level positive peace indicators.
- PPF Field Action (Impact) puts knowledge into practice through community mediation teams, cross-community projects and local peace committees.
Join us
Building durable peace requires a structured, strategic and unified movement. We invite researchers, policy analysts, youth activists, community leaders and civil society partners to join PPF.
Together, we can build the resilient institutions and cohesive communities our country deserves.
